VabiO is a dry mineral mix based on clay, lime, sand, and white cement — the versatile base for creating decorative finishes of exceptional depth and architectural expression. Designed to work in perfect synergy with the decorative additives Cocciopesto (fired terracotta clay) and ShellGrit (crushed Black Sea shells), it creates facade and interior finishes with natural texture and a unique antique character.

The material is ideal for interior and exterior finishing of vertical surfaces — walls, facades, columns, niches, and decorative elements. Its unique composition combines breathable properties, resistance to micro-cracking, and excellent response to moisture fluctuations. Thanks to natural additives, the coating acquires a mineral relief and a deep, variable colour that shifts with the angle of view and the quality of light.

VabiO conveys the atmosphere of the southern coast — warm, slightly rustic, with a calm depth and natural elegance. It can be applied in both smooth and textured finishes, is available in a wide palette of natural tones, and can be individually tinted with Palitro natural pigments for a completely personalised result.

Application technologies

Surface Preparation

The substrate surface must be clean, dry, and load-bearing. Remove contamination, formwork oils, mortar residues, and flaking painted coatings. Level minor surface irregularities using ArmaTexture 1000 mortar (levelling layer not exceeding 10 mm). Treat highly absorbent or dusty surfaces with consolidating primer UniGrund or GrundKonzentrat. Treat glossy surfaces by roughening and applying Quartz Primer Grosso.

Application

1. Pour the VabiO package (15 kg) into a container with 4.5–5.5 litres of clean water at room temperature. Mix with an electric mixer at low speed until homogeneous. Rest for 10 minutes, then mix again. To tint: add Palitro pigments to water first, mix lump-free, then add VabiO, then add decorative additives (Cocciopesto, ShellGrit, etc.) at the final stage.

2. Distribute the mix evenly over the surface to the required layer thickness. Working time: approximately 2 hours.

3. Once the material has gained initial strength (2–4 hours under standard conditions) while retaining sufficient moisture, gently wash the upper layer with a clean damp sponge to reveal the coloured inclusions of sand and aggregates. Do not disturb the material structure.

4. Repeat the washing procedure after 12 hours to fully reveal the sand grains and added aggregates. Allow the coating to dry completely and reach final strength.

5. Once fully set, treat the surface with Velatura Vintage Matt, Decor Wax, Special Wax, or Savon protective emulsion to enhance appearance, durability, water repellency, and stain resistance. To create imitation joints for a stone or brick effect, mark joints during the hardening period using a spirit level and straight edge.

Warning

WARNING: During application and throughout the hardening process, air and substrate temperature must remain between +10°C and +30°C. Do not apply in direct sunlight, strong wind, fog, or high humidity, or if frost is expected within 24 hours. Frost resistance: min. 25 cycles. Shelf life: 12 months from date of manufacture. Clean tools with water immediately after use.
