Surface Preparation
The substrate surface must be clean, dry, and load-bearing. Remove contamination, formwork oils, mortar residues, and flaking painted coatings. Smooth surface irregularities with finishing filler FinishSpachtel D60 or D70. Highly or poorly absorbent substrates must first be treated with Quartz Primer Grosso. Before applying HOMA, dampen the substrate with clean water (especially clay and lime substrates) — primed plasterboard or Quartz Primer Grosso-treated substrates do not require wetting.
Application
1. Pour the 12 kg HOMA package into a container with 4.5–5.5 litres of clean water at room temperature. Mix with an electric mixer at low speed until homogeneous. Rest for 10 minutes, then mix again. To tint: add Palitro pigments to the water first, mix until lump-free, then add HOMA.
2. Distribute the mix evenly over the surface in 2 coats with a total thickness of no more than 3 mm, using a plastering hawk and a metal trowel with broad, sweeping strokes.
3. Do not excessively rework the first coat after application. Once the area has begun to harden slightly (approximately 2–3 hours), apply the second thin finish coat using a slightly wetter mix.
4. After applying the second coat, wait 30 minutes to 2 hours until the coating stops shifting under the trowel and the wet sheen dulls. Smooth with a stainless steel Venetian trowel using random strokes. If too dry, carefully re-wet with a spray bottle or damp sponge.
5. Once fully dry, treat the surface with Velatura Vintage Matt, Savon protective emulsion, or other suitable coatings to enhance durability, water repellency, and stain resistance.
Warning
WARNING: During application and drying, air and substrate temperature must remain between +10°C and +30°C. Do not apply in direct sunlight, strong wind, fog, or high humidity, or if frost is expected within 24 hours. HOMA is composed of natural components with a limited pot life of 8 hours after mixing — prepare only the quantity needed for one working day. Clean tools with water immediately after use.
