COCCIOPESTO is a dry granulated additive based on fired clay and crushed antique ceramics from bricks, roof tiles, and terracotta pots — the same material used in Roman construction over two millennia ago. When blended with the VabiO decorative mix, it creates striking finishes with an unmatched antique character, suitable for both interior and exterior applications.

In the ToClay philosophy, this additive is a bridge between the past and the present. Fragments of ancient ceramics, forged by fire and centuries of time, come alive in new spaces — lending them a sense of age, authenticity, and the inexhaustible energy of natural materials. The result is a wall that tells a story.

The pozzolanic effect of the terracotta granules combines with the lime binder in VabiO to create a surface of remarkable strength and durability — non-combustible, naturally beautiful, and built to last in the Australian climate.

Application technologies

Surface Preparation

Follow all substrate preparation guidelines for the VabiO decorative mix before incorporating Cocciopesto granules. The base substrate must be properly primed according to VabiO application instructions.

Application

1. Pour the contents of the VabiO package (15 kg) into a container with 4.5–5.5 litres of clean water at room temperature. Mix with an electric mixer at low speed until a homogeneous consistency is achieved.

2. Add the required amount of Cocciopesto terracotta granules to the VabiO mix.

3. Leave the mix for approximately 10 minutes, then mix again. Adjust consistency with a small amount of water if necessary.

4. Apply following the VabiO application guidelines. Working time is approximately 2 hours from the start of mixing with water.

Warning

WARNING: Always account for the exact amount of water stated on the packaging. Mix that has begun to set and lose workability must not be re-thinned with water for further use. When applying by machine, follow the equipment operating instructions. Operating temperature range: -30°C to +70°C. Shelf life: 12 months from date of manufacture in original packaging.
