Surface Preparation
CALTERA is applied to a perfectly prepared surface. The surface must be firm, dry, and free of efflorescence, dust, dirt, oils, and grease. Previously painted surfaces must be cleaned of flaking residues and sanded. Areas affected by mould or moss must be thoroughly treated mechanically and primed with BiozidGrund D-07 (TM ELF) or other specialist products. Apply QUARTZ PRIMER or QUARTZ PRIMER GROSSO to the prepared surface before applying the decorative material.
Application
1. Before applying, tint the material if required using a dye or machine tinting system and mix thoroughly until uniform. If required, up to 10% water may be added depending on substrate and technique.
2. Apply the first coat with a stainless steel trowel or hawk, creating the original pattern of the future finish. Light ridges are permitted for a more pronounced texture.
3. After fully drying (approximately 6–12 hours), apply the second coat, alternating strokes in different directions.
4. The stippling technique may also be applied to the second coat using a masonry brush or stainless steel trowel. 15–20 minutes after application, polish the surface with multi-directional strokes.
5. To enhance texture depth and protect the surface, apply DECOR WAX, VELATURA VINTAGE, VELATURA VINTAGE MATT, or SAVON protective emulsion in a thin layer, alternating directions.
Warning
WARNING: Air and substrate temperature during application and drying must be between +10°C and +30°C at 60% relative humidity. Touch-dry: 6–12 hours. Fully dry: 24 hours. The manufacturer accepts no liability for coating defects resulting from incorrect use, unsuitable surfaces, or changed application conditions.
